Living with Urgency: A Call to Spiritual Readiness

I have reached the age where people my age are passing away. Since August 2024, four contemporaries who have gone home to be with the Lord.

The thought of my own death does not trouble me, but the idea of leaving this world without being in right relationship with the Lord is terrifying.

The Apostle Peter wrote to believers facing persecution and death by the Roman Empire, urging them to stay faithful despite hardship. In 1 Peter 4:7, he declares:

"The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray."

Peter’s message is clear time is short, and Jesus' return is imminent. While "the end" does not necessarily mean immediate death, it emphasizes the urgency of living righteously, because our own death could come at any moment.

Applying This Truth Today I Pray That We Will

  1. Live with urgency – Christ's return is nearer than ever; we must prioritize faith, holiness, and love.
  2. Stay spiritually disciplined – Avoid distractions that cloud your judgment and keep your heart centered on God.
  3. Commit to prayer – A strong prayer life keeps us connected to God’s will and strengthens us in times of trial.

📖 “The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.”1 Peter 4:7
