A Mountain Top Experience For Valley Service

This weekend at the St. Julian of Norwich Episcopal Church Men's Retreat in Austin, Texas, Rev. Marben Bland, Pastor of Greater Bethel AME Church in Athens, Georgia, delivered a powerful message on the Transfiguration of Jesus and how knowing our Spiritual Why shapes our faith, relationships, and service.

Like Jesus on the mountaintop, we experienced divine moments of clarity, prayer, and connection. But as He descended to face real-world challenges, so must we—carrying our faith into the valleys of life.

🔹 Why do we invest in relationships? Because Jesus didn’t walk alone—He brought Peter, James, and John with Him.
🔹 Why do we give? Because faith is reflected in how we use our resources for God’s glory.
🔹 Why do we seek spiritual growth? Because transformation isn’t just for the mountaintop—it’s for the journey ahead.

As we leave this retreat, we take with us the charge to listen to Jesus, center our lives on Him, and live out our Why with purpose and passion.
