Finding Abundance In Surrender

As we enter this 40-day journey of Lent, Ash Wednesday reminds us of the paradox of faith: when we give to God, we receive more than we could ever imagine. Jesus tells us, "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap" (Luke 6:38).

Lent is a season of surrender—giving up distractions, comforts, and even control—so that we might draw closer to God. Just as Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness (Matthew 4:2), we are called to let go of what binds us and embrace a deeper dependence on Him.

When we give up our time for prayer, we gain peace.
 When we give up selfishness, we gain love.
 When we give up our burdens, we gain rest (Matthew 11:28).

On this Ash Wednesday, let’s reflect on what we can surrender to God, knowing that He is faithful to fill our hands and hearts with His grace.
